I have a Premier DEH-P8600MP head unit going to a kicker 30band eq connected to a kicker 600x4 running orion p6.2's. My 2 kicker 1200x1 run off the head unit are strapped together running 2 ID Max 12's. My question. I wanted to run everything through the kicker 30band eq and leave the head unit eq turned off. Whats the best way to have this hooked up. Should I get rid of the eq and just use the head unit 13band eq? Please help.

under normal cercumstances since ur have a pioneer HU I'd say use the HU's eq, but u have a kicker 30 band eq which means you can more fine tune the signal with that. Now, my next question is does the EQ only come with one RCA preamp? If so I'd say split the RCA's after the eq with Y-Spliters, then run the RCA's going to the sub through a crossover. I'd find it odd that a kicker eq wouldn't have a separate sub-output.

It only has one input and output. I was thinking the same thing, just use a y splitter and run everything through the kicker eq. I also running the remote bass control for the sub amps so that helps if I dont want as much bass, since I would loose the sub control feature off the head unit if I use the kicker eq. Is one way better than the other?

Thanks

Yes, use the Kicker eq as it has far superior capabilities as compared to the basic eq in the Pioneer. If your main amplifier has a set of pass through rca's jacks, this would eliminate the need for rca y cables. If you must use the y cables, consider  an active crossover to separate the two signals after the eq instead. Otherwise the rca y cables are the next best bet.

The downfall of having 2 sub amplifiers is that (unless I am mistaken) you will also need two sub level controls, one for each sub amp. (I read your post as though you had two sub amps, correct me if I am wrong). If tis is the case then I would most definitely look at some kind of active crossover with a included sub level controller. This would solve the control issues that arise with two sub amplfiers and two sub level controllers.

I have 2 kicker 1200x1 amps on my 2 12's but the kicker 1200x1 has a feature where you can "strap" two amps together as kicker calls it. Thats what I did. When they are strapped you basically just have one big 2400x1 now. You only use one set of adjustments now, thats why I only have one bass control.
