how much power was it being fed, and what kinda box/how big was it?   Its more of a sq sub thats supposed to get loud because of its long excursion like a W7.

I think it was like 800 watts or so, sealed box about 1.25 cubic ft or so.  I know its more of an SQ sub but it just didnt perform like i thought it would SQ and SPL wise that is

So far i found the best box to be is a 1 cubic ft sealed box, super reinforced, it handles the power better and hits tighter.

Maybe i'm a lucky one,.. I just replaced my two Type Rs with two Type Xs,... My two Type Rs slapped twice as hard UNTIL i ran 0 gauge and installed a LA Storm X1.2000.1D monoblock amp,.. i'm also running the Type Xs in 1ohm pumpin' 2000watts. Now even while driving on the freeway my battery light comes on and my engine will studder. I am damn impressed with these Type Xs. They hit everything from 20hz to 80hz no problem. my buddy has a Solo-X 18" in his 300zx and im still slappin' on him. Type X = massive power.

goodluck to everyone else that are having a hard time with these subs.

PS im running a 5 cubic ft box with a 6" port. it needed some serious support framing.

You probably got the 2nd shipment of them.   They made a change in the voice coil , so the ones that came out for the first month suck, , aparently the ones with the new voice coils are alot better.

i was talking to some car audio guy about the type X's and he said they sound like sh*t if you dont run atleast 1000 watts into them, i believe they peak at 3000?

Was this guy a salesman by any chance? haha   Its true your going to need close to 1000rms to really work it, , but less wont deminish any quality, , heck 500rms would probably push it pretty good.

my friend got two type-x 10s, with an mtx pushin 500rms to each and they were loud as hell, and sounded damn good, but the more he broke them  in the weaker they got? he went to our sh*tty ass audio shop here, and they said it was because he didnt have an alpine amp to go with it
