Factory Refurbished

Would you buy an amp that was factory refurbished from an authrized dealer??

I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.

As far as I understand, factory refurb means repaired by the factory to "as new" condition. Most people dont like it just because it is not "brand new". If the factory replaced a bad part with a new part, I would think there should be no difference with a new piece since the factory replaced the bad part with a brand new "part".

Just people (I am one of them too!) are "prejudiced" if you will, to the word "New". Of course as auex mentions, having a decent warranty would be a good thing to have, (regardless of new or refurb).

A freind of mine bought a refurbished kenwood amp, its 500W rms i belive, for like $120 from a authorized dealer. He hasnt had any problems yet and it pounds his subs 1000X better then his old pyramid amp did, lol! So I say go for it, you can get a great amp, and a even greater deal when u buy refurbished.

In general this is not a problem.  But the key is "authorized dealer" and "available warranty."

Yea, I think even Roadgear is better than Pyramid. Thanks for all your replies guys. I never knew whether to trust refurbished material, but now I know.

What to look for in a refurbished amp:
Factory refurbished
Authorized dealer
WARRENTY

Go for it.  My A2002T is a factory refurb w/ 1 year warranty.  It looks and sounds brand new.

A little unknown fact about some "refubished" stuff, some of it is actually bought, used for a day or two and if not sold as an open box item is sent back to the manufacture, They test its, clean it, inspect it, and usually test it again(and sometimes with more test than when its new), they then send it back out as Factory refurbished when in realaity they didn't even replace anything on it. So just because it says refurbished doesn't even mean that something has ever been wrong with it. I have bought a lot of refurb stuff and never had a problem with it, just make sure it has warrenty, its usally the same as new. Just a little bit of info i thought i would pass along.

iv bought lots, and sold lots of refurb's, mostly mrd-m300's, and cda-7893's, only 1 deck came back and it was because he spilt pop inside it, lol, , whell, , his 2L blew up right infront of the opening.

the problem with refurb stock is you never know what happened to it in the first place... was it sent back and refurbed because a lamp burned out inside or because the customer blew the living hell out of it?.....

i've had some refurb stock come in here where i'm amazed they actually let it back out into the field.... i guess depends on the manufacturer and how badly they need money....

Some manufactures I wouldn't even look at buying from brand new, much less their refurb. stuff. If a company is know for putting out good stuff new, then their refurb. stuff should be just as reliable: PG, PPI, RF, but not people like: Pyle, Boss, Pyramid.
