sometime this morning or afternoon, i spent sometime in front of my work place listening to one of my coworkers 6.5's see how they sounded.
first off:
he had some sort of pioneer 3 way,i dont know there models, he never said. they had the midbass speaker, a tweeter, and then in an upper corner a super small tweeter it looked like.

now our cars models

Myself:
Buick 91 lesabre
Deck: Sony CDX MP40
ftont: stock
Rear: Kicker K65
Amp: Soundstream TR800.5
(all thats hooked up now)

Co-Worker:
Talon, mid 90's i think.
Deck: Pioneer, middle line deck, didnt look like their DEH (excuse wrong model name, quite drunk) models
Front: not stock, thinking pioneer 5 1/4 coax
w/ some kind of possible stock tweeter setup in his from dash panel, didnt actually see em so not 100%.
Rears: pioneer 3way setup as i said above.
thats it for his system i think.

when i stepped inside his car he cranked up some rap, to the point of distortion i could hear it anyways, his speakers couldnt handle it. but there was not very much bass the way he had set it up, and i believe he also notched up the low eq setting on his HU, either way, comparing it to my setup, i have to say it needs some fine tuning to sound as good, now it may be the setup, hoping it is, probably paid a bitta $$$ for all 3 of those parts at once.

my car hits lowers, harder and crisper at higher volume than his, and the front stocks are doing well enough running off the deck, i can actually tollerate the difference in sound quality between my rears off my amp and the deck runnin the fronts. if i had a choice against pioneer and kicker,i would most likely go with the Kicker Resolution series, i dont know about the SS but a set of resolutions would be a cost effective choice.

the pioneers sounded like they had good highs though i liked it somewhat better than my kickers (not including my stock front speakrs) seemed a bit too high for my liking, always finding myself fine-tuning my HU EQ.

to sum it up this post is just for people looking into either companys, hopefully it gets found through the search feature.

Peace
