I just currently put a new deck into my car and everything seems to work fine, except every time I turn off my car the deck resets itself. What would be the reason for this? I am thinking I might not have a wire hooked up because I didnt connect the illumination wire from my receiver but it seems to work without it. If anyone knows why let me know.

you dont need the illumination wire, you have a constant 12v issue, let me guess, it's not keeping time either.

You have a problem with the yellow wire. What kind of vehicle do you have?

I have a '91 Sundance and the only way I could get the deck to power up was to connect the red and yellow wire to the ignition 12 v wire, so the battery wire has nothing connected to it. and yes my clock resets every time too

ok... lets try to figure out why theres no power on the 12v wire.

try checking the fuse, its is the issue in 99.9% of all cases.

It will not be labeled accordingly, the 'radio' fuse is usually the switched 12v. Just get a good set of needle noses and check all your fuses. it'll probly be 'ctsy' or 'int', are there any other electrical devices not working?(primarily the interior lights)
