I need an amp with a small footprint to power a JL 10W6V2. It is going in a 2004 Toyota Tacoma Ext Cab, sO space is at a premium. I have been powering it with a HiFonics Zeus Series VII, but I sold it b/c it is too big.  Any Suggestions? I have been out of the loop in buying new car audio for a while, so whats good these days??

if you've got the money look into a 'rack' amplifier... cant think of any names or models off hands but I know the rack amps are built for small spaces.

Micro Dimensions, Sometimes refered to as U Dimensions makes a great mono block amp thats rack mount with mall foot print. I believe they are the same company as Focal. I have the smaller two channel thats rated at 70 x 2 and have seen it power 3 10wO's in a sealed box and it powered them very well. The guy I got this amp from was using it as a sub amp for his 10" L7 and it worked awsome for him. I have been using it to power my components and it sounds great. Mabye look into them.

what about the alpine MRD-M500 or MRD-M501. I hear these are pretty stout. They are fairly small too. THose rack amps are expensive. THe ones I could find anyway.

I second ( or third) the motion on Xtant. Very skinny and small framed for the power available from them. Also, I remember the old Memphis amps being small for their output, but haven't seen any of the new ones though.

The USacoustics amp model USX600D would power that sub nicely, at a clean 375 watts at 2 ohms.  It is 9.75 in. long X 9.5 wide X 2.4 in. high.  Sips power, and has impressive THD specs for a mono amp.  About $200.

Concept also makes some stellar small footprint amplifiers in their HC series. I do not know if they are on the site yet but have a look at them anyways.  www.conceptconcept.com

here's the dealy. Becuase of space, I am going with 2 Adire Koda 8's instead of a 10.  I have room for a box about 10X11X11. Which is a little small, but not by much.

I have 2 places for amps.

Under the seat I have about 8" by  4"

in the jack storage, I have 11X17.

Both areas have about 3" top to bottom clearance.

I need to place a sub amp and would like to place a 4 channel amp for the other speakers ( JL VR 6" separates in front, dont know what for the rear). I suppose I can run the speakers off the Alpine CDA-9833 I am about to buy, but theat would be underpowering for the front. A nice 4 channel + 1 sub channel amp would be sweet.

Top. What about the Phoenix Gold R9.0:5

Well, phoenix gold's stuff can be either good or ehh, not so good. I was a big fan of their Tantrum and Titanium amps, but I see they are discontinued now. I haven't heard the Octanes or Xenons yet , but the power ratings on that look pretty sweet. Just try to listen to it first if you can, and make sure there's a warrenty (not'n against PG, just that you never know..)

oh dude - I just realized that the #'s I was lookin at were rated in Max power. Still though.. 60x4 + 200x1 isn't bad for RMS if the price is right.
