hi all i need a little help i have a dodge durango 2001 with a 8 speaker infinity sound system (stock) the problem is the rear speakers sound very crapy and the fronts sound great with the bass up i checked the connections on the factory amp everything was ok they seem to be the same speakers for the front and back ... now i have no idea if thats the way the system is setup (thats normal) or if there is somthing wrong with the amp ..i dont think the speakers are blown ..and the only reason i think it may be the amp is because the fronts sound much louder and sharper then the rears do ..but like i said im not to sure so if anyone can help please ...thank you :)

hey man, we got a 2002 Dakota quad cab with an infinity system in it. It sucks. Its how it is. When will the day come when a car manufacturer can put quality and high power components in?

Given two identical speakers and amps, one pair in the dash or high door area and the other ' in the back of the bus'  location, the upfront locations win always. Would you go to a show  or listen to a lecturer with the sound not upfront?  If you extra power the rears to match the perceved loudness you get a soundstage that is on either side of you, much like watching a bigscreen movie from right in front of the screen. The main aim of all of this stuff is still music at least for some of us. With this extra power rear setup  backseat passengers should be given hearing protectors, as I wish I had once on a taxi where the driver wanted the bass and would not turn it off or down at a polite request. Rear speakers are for rear seat listening and idealy should not intrude on the front seat front image. I use a MCM generic or peerless ?aluminum cone 4 inch indash facingtoward ears not glass.  The cone has a bullet not a deadning dome  and sparkles clear on up to the top with none of the phaseshifted gaps in the treble that any tweeter makes when stuck right  in front of the very critical upper midrange that comes from the center of all midsized speakers. Or in other words  no 'coaxials' or any other number of difracting drivers dodgeing diction of as such a simple thing as  the clear voice of an anouncer on the news. This will give a big impact on allmost any kind of music with the added bass either with a sub or rears of large diameter. If you  want to be surrounded by vocals etc then parellel the 2 channels that are there to start with all over the place, doors , kick areas, underseats etc, In pairs at gains so to mix all together hopefully in phase and you'll  end with the   bigscreen in your face effect. Not surround sound! Always keep all lefts on the drivers side (USA) ,if crossed over  reversed it just mixes things towards mono. Real surround sound is the way to go in a modern way  and the first SACD - DVD will do it right finally  with 6 channel sound mixes in real hifi, without this 2 channels all over the place debate that has been going on since bigiron had big rear decks to put that deep dish Kokomo 6X9. It's whats up front that counts, so lets face the music.
