Ok i have 2 Rockford RFD2212's 12" DVC 4 ohm (500 rms, 250/coil)
and a rockford 501bd new amp..how should i wire the speakers and amp for best performance??

Amp specs-300 rms x1 @ 4 ohms
500 rms x1 @ 2 ohms

Going by the specs you posted...use one sub with that amp.  Wire the coils in parallel for a 2 ohm load and you will get RMS to it.

The only recommended way to wire two subs to this amp is a series / parallel connection and let the amp rest at 4 ohm mono. The amp will not dissappoint with this "little" power at all. A better match of subs to the amp or amp to the subs would be preferred but work with what you have for now. Stevdart nailed suggestion #2. Here is how to safely wire this system.
