All things being equal, which speaker design will sound better?
6 1/2" round -or- 6x8 (5x7)?
In general, a round speaker will produce more uniform sound, but a 6x8 has more surface area. Which speaker will produce a fuller, more accurate sound?
Thanks,
JAMES.
6 1/2 should always sound better as a speaker, all things being equal. The farther away from round the more unclear a speaker becomes, at least that is how it has always been put to me.

I promise to be good.
Tell Darwin I sent you.
I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.
I have had the same explained to me. Think about when you drop something in water. If you drop a marble in a perfectly calm pool of water then the riples will be perfectly round and travel at the same speed. If you take a square brick (solo-baric for example) and drop it in that same calm pool the waves are not going to be equal at all and kinda f**ked up looking. Now replace the objects with speaker cones and the water with soundwaves and you should get what I am trying to say.

i will go with the 6 1/2 for sure. I would rather have 6 1/2 components all around the car then 6 1/2 and 6x 9's
