Hey guys, i know those subs are in 2 completely different categories, but relax. there is more to this than meets the eye. I have money burning a hole in my pocket, and i wanna get a sick ass system. I'm leaning towards the JL's just cuz think it'll look cool as hell when its done, but here is what i wanna do: either 8 (yes 8) JL W0 12" 8 ohm subs wired down to 1 ohm, or 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect VQ's wired down to 1 ohm on a crossfire 1000 watt mono block amp. which do you think will hit harder. i know its a hard one to call but i think someone out there will have something intelligent to say. also, suggestions on other subs that would hit harder than the setups mentioned above (with the same amp) are apprecciated. thanks.

as some of the smarter people on this board will say there is more replacement for displacement......personally i would classify the kappa perfects and the jl audio subs in the same catagory as they are both leaning towards sound quality...

yea, i understand that, but if u look at the xmax's and all the technical stuff the perfects easily out-do the jl's. but i figure'd with 8, they'd make up for it. u know what i mean?

Whell, ,  id go with the 8 w0's , they will slam like no tomorrow compared to 2 infinity's, ,you have double the displacement with the JL's, and it will make everyones jaw drop when they see 8 12"s

Ya this is a no brainer as to which is louder, the JL's will be by far.

You got 14 cubic feet of space to dedicate?  Go for it, I'd like to see (and hear) the results.  You'll get a gain of 6 db just in cone area alone over two 12"s...plus the gain of cabinet volume.  Looks like a good matchup.

haha, i've got plenty of room. I have a 1990 honda civic hatchback. i never have anyone in the car with me, and the few times i do, its only one other person cuz i have so much stuff in my car right now. no one can sit in the back anyways cuz i have my current subs laying on top of the seat. I had to move the box back because it sounded like ass right up next to the rear hatch.

Are the all subs going to be on the same axis and facing the same way?  What's your plan?
