Parents have some left over carpet with the foam pad glued onto it. I was wondering if it could be used as a sound deadener?

not really sound deadener, but vibration dampener, yes. Use it to stop rattles etc.

If the backing is made of actual rubber, it will reduce some road noise.

How thick and dense the material is, is what ultimately decides what you get. Other than ensuring that all area's of the vehicle is properly covered.

again why go the cheap route when rubberized undercoating is only like $3 a can and a few cans will do a whole trunk. I recomend rubberized undercoating using mar-hyde. It is avalible at wal-mart. MAXST are you still thinking of comeing to the show on the 19th?

Just had some lying around. Make use of what i have rather than driving an hour to the nearest store that has anything i can use. Im planning to mat the entire trunk- looking at it today, it appears that the pervious owners had a system- couple sheets of some sort of deadener on the sides- next to power antenna and jack on the other side.

thought the show was on the 18th? Im thinking about it yes. Want to look around and learn this time. Not 100% sure if ill enter my car in tho.
