6*9s in the front doors wouldn't be any worse than having 6*8s or 5*7s, but it's a size uncommon (I think) to the front doors. Not the first choice, if you have a choice in the matter. If you have them, and they fit, try them out. Depends on what your budget is for sound in the car. In the rear, they are a lot more common. Do you know what the original speaker sizes were? ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Price being equal, or close to it, go with a good round coax or component speaker. It is easy to adapt a 6x9 location to fit a 6.5 or 5.25" round speaker. ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

IMO 6x9's suck ass, i'll never own another pair. Before i knew anything about car audio, i knew enough from listening to them that they don't play anything precisely, , they just get dam loud, ,but thats not cool of you can't distinguish the music being produced. Stick with a 6.5" component set up front and a sub in the rear and you will go deff easily with the proper set up. Assuming you use quality components and real amplifiers. but if you like 6x9's go ahead, it may be hard to get them in the front doors, , there is alot of moving parts inside from the window that may hit the speakers, you need to keep an eye out for that. ------------- 2003 Chevy Avalanche,Eclipse CD7000,Morel Elate 5,Adire Extremis,Alpine PDX-4.150, 15" TC-3000, 2 Alpine PDX-1.1000, 470Amp HO Alt.

another thing, i can probly fit another speaker in my door as well somewhere. so what if i kep tthe 6x9's there and got a good compentnet set, and get another amp. would the 6x9's take away from the sound qualtiy, cuz im looking at the Infinity 6000CS compnent set. i have infinitys in the back, and rockford's currently in the doors, with an mtx mxa4004 pushin them. It sounds good, but not good enough, i am a perfactionost and it is bugging me. The bad thing about being a perfectionist is being broke tho :( . but money will come and i can wait

^x9 speakers have a surface Area the same as 8 inch woofers. 6+9 = 15 Devide that by 2 to get your surface area and you get 7.5 inches If you measure the cone of any 8 inch speaker inside of the outer trim it measures 7.5 inches ------------- John DeRosa (Hotwaterwizard)

When in doubt, try it out !

I have a set of pioneer 6x9's behind my seat, I would never get rid of them becuase of the sound improvement that it gives.

Besides the fact that 6x9s are not made to fit in the front of a car, they also dont sound as good as a round speaker. The circle shape of 6.5 puts out much better sound becasue the speaker hits the same way all the way around. But oval shaped speaker, like 6x9s, dont hit evenly all the way around, becasue their edges are far away from the middle of the speaker. So although 6x9s are bigger, they dont put out as much, or as high a quality sound as a set of 6.5s. In fact, some people put 6.5s in the place of 6x9s in the back of their vehicles.

I would rather run 2 sets of 6.5 components any day over 6 x 9;s

another question tho. about ohms and what not and my 4 channel mtx amp. i'm confused about this one and nead some clearing up. if i wire to speakers like in parallel which will make them 2 ohm right? my amp is 50w at 4 ohm and 100 watts at 2 ohm, so that would be the same as each speakers being in its own channel would it not? If so does that mean i can hook up a total of 8 speakers to this amp to use its full power. wich is 400 watts??
