I want to replace the factory amp and sub. I will keep the OEM deck. I have a few questions that some may already know (search and could not find my answer)

Does anyone know what to use as the amp turn-on signal?

The signal that arrives at the factory sub...is it high or low level. I have a pac aux input adaptor installed and am somewhat nervous about buying the preamp harness not knowing if all will fit together.

I can use a line level converter...but wanted to get any other suggestions.

Thanks for taking a few to help me out.

Many factory decks don't have a usable remote, but you could get a high-low adapter with a circuit that will give you a remote turn-on. You don't have to use the signal part, just use RCAs. One such product is the PAC OEM-2.

The one PAC makes retails for about $29. you hook up ground, switched, and constant power (black, red, yellow) and connect your radio's speaker leads to it. It has RCA outs, and you WILL need to use them, contrary to my earlier post (forgot about the stock deck). When it gets signal from your radio, it will turn on a remote wire for your amp.
