Does speaker wire guage really matter that much??  I have seen people using 8-10 guage speaker (monster) wire for a 50x4 AB amp.  Is that a little overkill???  I am running a memphis 75x4 to the M-sync components using 16 guage speaker wire.  Is that to small???  What size should I use?

Thanks.

Well, for most installs 8 gauge is rediculous. But yes speaker wire gauge matters. You should be fine.

16 AWG is fine for most installations.  8 gage is very much overkill.

16 gauge is probably the lowest i would recommend to anyone. I personally never go below 12 gauge, just to be on the safe side. 8 gauge... well, i mean, ya, if u've got an audiobahn 5000 watt amp powering and MTX RFL, then sure, thats ok. Other than that, dont waste ur money.

I use 16 for my main's and 10 gauge for my sub. Found a deal on some good wire, so I use it.

Wow, I forgot about that one.  We actually had a VERY detailed conversation about this topic not too long ago.  Here's a link to it: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=38642&PN=5

I bet they also run Audiobahn because of the super elite chrome flame bling bling.

12 Gage is good. 16 may be to small that is a great amp. go for the better quality wire.
