does the is 300 have a factory amp? if so, where is it located?

Yes it does, in a UK IS200 it is located infront of the passenger door, tucked up behind the dashboard to the side. Its easy to spot, its silver, has a heatsink along one edge and 2 connectors on the forward edge. I presume it will be the same on US IS300's. The bad news is the sucker has no line level I/O that you can use to drive an aftermarket amplifier (The H/U and amp are closely integrated). It is DIYable though, if you don't mind taking the case apart, you could do it in less than an hour.

If you drop the glove compartment, you can access it easily.
