For some reason The "service air bag" message will not go away, This started to occur after the factory radio was removed. The is no On Star in the car. We have sent it to Chevy to have the light reset & in 10 min. it happens all over again. The dealer knows nothing (well, with out doing a full Diga. Which they want to charge for), any help would be great.

It is a normal harness, the car has nothing special. All that was added was a radio with a GM harness that fits that model. There are 13 pin\wires that come out of the factory stereo

I think that you should try re-installing the factory radio and see if the problem goes away. You may have got the wrong GM harness plug. Just because it plugs in, dosen't mean it's the correct one. The radio in the 2004 Avalanche isn't like other GM radios. As kgerry mentioned, there are specific radio replacement modules for your truck. Depending on what options are in your truck dictates which one is necessary. Factory radios are now intregal part of your vehicle's electrical and data bus system. Removing them creates problems.

the radios in the 03 and newer full size GM trucks (CK chassis) use an SPS software system that allow for reprogramming the entire software structure of the radio thru the tech II scan tool via a data upload... these radios are substantially different than similar radios in the 03 ST chassis and passenger cars....
