i have an 89 accord, and i got a new deck for it but on my car stereo wiring harness there is an ORANGE / white striped wire that says "positive dimmer", but there is no matching wire on the deck harness....can someone help me figure out which one it is i wold hook it up to?...thanks

Leave it unused, as your deck doesn't have a dimmer feature. Read the owner's manual to be sure.

dimmer wires arent always the best thing to hook up any ways. even tho it has never happened to me, i have heard of cases that some times the dimmer has been know to short out all the dash lights if used over time. but i might be wrong. please correct me if im wrong

you're wrong..... all it does is activate a separate illumination circuit in HU's that have a dedicated illumination circuit.... ( remember all the old Pioneers with the yellow illum lead ) if hooked up and insulated properly it will never "short out all the dash lights " most problems with this circuit arise from guys not capping it and isulating it when not being used... allowing it to short to metal behind the radio and shag the dash light fuse...... or in many older Fords using it as a ground, because with the dash lights off it does indeed meter as a good ground, but as soon as you turn the park lights on the wire has 12 volts on it.... and it happens to be a black wire with a thin blue stripe so many guys mistake it for a ground ( which Ford didnt supply on the old radio harnesses )..... ------------- Kevin Gerry

Saw that exact case yesterday Kevin, the Pioneer cd player was going in and out of protection mode. The illumination, power antenna and remote on were all left hangin. And this came from the big box guys down the street, they even put in another cd player because they assumed the cd player was faulty. <they keep me in business, I love those guys>
