Had a custom box built (downfiring) with two Diamond Audio M6 MARKII subs.. It sounded like @#$!  When we held the box upright it toward the front of my truck it sounded alot better.. When it was downfiring it sounded like it was bottoming out when we increased the volume. Is this sub any good for downfiring?

Downfiring is somthing used in home audio, but I've never heard of it being done in car audio. Why not just have them facing normal??

What's the box made of ? What's the amp powering it ? How do you have the subs hooked up ? We need this information for other's to help you out.

The box is made of 3/4' MDF and the amp powering it is a US Acoustics 1000D (1250watts RMS @ 1ohm load 12.9volts) We have subs hooked in parallel.

Looks like you answered your own question.  Without changing anything else, you turned the box toward the front and the problems stopped.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

We had gains set very low because as we increased the gain it got worse.
