stereo input - bridged mono output?

I currently have a left and right high level input and I want to use a bridged output.  Do I need to split the left input and use it in place of the right in order to make it mono so that the signals aren't fighting?

No you do not. Most amplifiers will either sum the signal together or source only the left input signal.
