Hi, first time poster, relatively new lurker :)
Just have a quick question on whether my stock 80amp alternator will be enough for my new planned system
Car is a mazda protege ( power moonroof, windows, doors, air, ; )..planned system will be:
Kicker 600.1 amp ( powereing 2 alpine type R, or S , not sure yet :) ) 600 RMS @2 ohms
Kicker 650.4 amp (powering fronts) 90rms x 4 @14.4V @4 ohms
Bear in mind that 80% of the time the volume will be run at 60% or less ( if that matters in current draw ?)
From what i've read, it seems that this setup will draw 35-45 amps which should be close to the breathing room for my stock alt. However, does this figure represent the max draw or avg draw?
Sorry if it sounds confusing, just trying to figure out if will fry my alt. If this is the case, can someone advise me as to what the max RMS my system can be without ugrading the alt?
Thx in advance.
You may be okay, your on the limit of ok/and needing to upgrade. During the day you should be fine, but at night with lights on and heat going your going to nitice dimming lights.
The best way to find out tho is to try it first. get a voltmeter installed upfront so you can see the voltage as you cruz.

how big should someone upgrade their amp? and bout how much do they cost? what size should I get for about a 700ish watt RMS system? or should i just get an additional battery?
