I have a 1992 Maxima with a factory Bose system. I have a Sony receiver and I just bought Infiniti Kappa Perfect 5.1 and Infiniti performance speakers. Is it possible to use the existing wiring (bypassing the Bose amps) or do I have to do a whole rewire? If so, what do I do? Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

in nissans they usually have 2 signal leads at each speaker so as long as you unplug the amps you should be able to use the stock wires. just make sure they arent common ground.

The Kappa components come with two amps, could I swap the Bose amps for the Infiniti?

Eh?  No, they don't "come with amps" they come with crossovers.  Unless you also bought Infinity amps with the speakers or got some sort of package deal.  What are the model numbers on the "amps?"

I am sure they are crossovers and to be honest with you GM wiring is pure sh*t, no other way to put it, so with that beign said you would be far better off to just rewire it. Your stereo is only as strong as your weakest link and it would be a shame to hook up those nice speakers using that crap wiring.

You are correct, they are crossovers. I have never done an install this involved, is there anything else I should be wary of?

Thanks

Someone should start an Anti-Bose forum, or better yet a grassroots movement....
