So I'm a car stereo noob but not an electronics noob.  I was able to install a new CD player with only few problems.  I'm wondering now if I would have any real problems installing my own speakers.  I can tell it would be easy to remove them and I think they are 6.5" and there's just a simple plug I can undo on them.  My car is a 91 honda Accord.  Are the new speakers out for sale any tougher to install than the ones in my car now look?  What do I need to know about buying speakers anyways?  Is there a decent place online like newegg.com is for computer parts?

Thanks!

Well as far as where to buy the speakers, Ebay is ur friend, if u buy from reputable shops there, u can't beat the prices on new gear...Gonna be the closest thing to newegg's prices...There's also Crutchfield and Cardomain's Shop and plenty of other's, but i like ebay....:)

As far as which speakers u need, just make sure the new speakers are not too deep so they fit in the door and not interfere with the window, same with the rear deck...Even though u may see a pair 6.5s and u know that's the size of ur stock speakers, the new speakers may be too deep for ur application....3-ways up front, 2-ways in the back....uhhhh what else....Removing speakers can go from easy as pie to hard as f*ck, seriously...check out a site like www.carstereohelp.com and see if they have the free walkthrough for ur vehicle on how to remove door panels or rear deck speakers...I believe ur car is prety easy, i have worked on some hondas and some were just popping off speaker grills and unscrewing, others required door pnal removal...Also if u have a factory amplifier that could pose a problem, where u would have to either bypass or re-wire, but seeing that u installed a new head unit and u didn't mention it, i'm assuming u do not...Get urself a panel removal tool for the door panels and such and tear the door panel down and replace em, just look at what u got and u'll get it....

Components give better sound then coaxials of the same quality.  With the components you can choose your tweeter placement and improve your imaging.  Think about were the speakers on your accord are.  Low, pointing to your ankles.  This is a problem for highs because they are directional, they need to aimed to their target to get there.  As you move down in frequencies your sounds become less directional, that’s why it is no big deal to have your mid-woofers down low.

If you are looking to just get louder, coaxials are fine for you.  Components cost a little more but generally have better materials.  Look for dome tweeters of at least 3/4 inch on a component set or coaxial.  Dome tweeters provide better sound and dispersion (off axis) then typical cone tweeters and midranges.  More tweeters and mids do not mean better sound.  The key to better sound is better materials and engineering, end of story.

I’m not so big on ebay, alot of horror stories out there and ill pay 20 or 30% more to make sure the sh*t will work when it gets here, and if it quits later i can return it for another one.  I don’t know if these will fit, but you can go to sound domain or crutchfeild  to look up your car and they will filter out what will not fit.

I own this one, good speaker for volume, decent sound, cheap:  https://www.cardomain.com/item/PIOTSA1680R?vq_id=none  This next one is just and example of a better set of coaxials: https://www.cardomain.com/item/PIOTSD160R?vq_id=none

Expect to pay more for components, but expect to get what you pay for : ) .  I have owned this set, not bad at all for the price.  If your thinking about the second set of coaxials, consider upgrading to these:  https://www.cardomain.com/item/PIOTSC1653?vq_id=none  A better set:  https://www.cardomain.com/item/PIOTSC130R?vq_id=none  And a good deal on a even better set: https://www.cardomain.com/item/POLMM6  To get the most out of any set of speakers be ready to give them about 2/3 of the RMS power.

No I dont work at sounddomain, but they offer a good balance between price and return/service.  Remember, almost none of the ebay outlets will supply you with extras like instalation instructions or wiring hanesses.  If your unsure about what to get, post back with more detailed questions like what modles your considering.  Good luck.
