FYI to Sedona owners
I have just completed an aftermarket installation of a Pioneer head unit in my 2005 Kia Sedona. Nobody lists the corrrect harness for this vehicle yet. I ordered the harness that was supposed to fit "99 and up Kia" but it did not come even close. I removed the factory head unit and it is identified as a Hyundai/Mobis unit. Hmmmmm! So I went down to the local Circuit City, head unit in hand, and picked up a Metra 7300 kit which is listed as fitting several Hyundai models but it hooked right up to the Kia vehicle harness like a glove. All the EIA color codes were correct for the Kia as well. I think this is true for the 2003 and up models - please correct me if I am wrong. You can buy these harnesses like I did at Circuit City or Best Buy and pay $16.95, or if you can wait you can order them on eBay for about 8 bucks with shipping included.
The dash install kit is the Metra 99-1005 which fit the dash perfectly. It includes an accessory pocket to take up the extra space below the standard DIN opening. I have a Pioneer DEH-P4800 MP which has the drop-down face plate so it needed to me mounted slightly forward of the plastic ledge above the bottom pocket. I accomplished this by installing the DIN cage slightly forward in the Metra bracket, using the various tabs in the din cage provided for this purpose. The two side brackets did not need to be attached to the head unit in my case. Once again, eBay is the best place to shop for these.
What was interesting here is that I did call Metra and they did not show a listing for my vehicle harness. I guess I will call them and let them know about the Hyundai connection.
Cheers,
Steve
