I bought a used car, 89 Corolla, and it already has the wires needed to install an amp. The red wire, connected to the battery has a place for a fuse. I am installing a 430w amp and a 500w sub. Does anyone know the correct fuse?

The fuse you use on the wire near the battery is dependant on the gauge of the wire, not the amp rating.  Can you tell what size the wire is?  Should be a minimum of 8 gauge for that amp, it looks like.  Use no more than 80 amp fuse for 8 gauge if you're not sure of the quality of the wire.  Or, you can just go a little more than the fuse rating of the amp, whatever that is.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
