I have seen a few break over time, mainly the spring in the rest gets jammed.   you could rip it apart and try to fix worst case its alreayd busted right.   By the way disconnect the power first   haha

Circuit breakers are not immortal, so yes, they will eventually fail to reset.  In which case you replace it with a new one.  First be sure that the problem that caused the breaker to shut in the first place has been corrected.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Now may be a good time to switch to a fuse holder, especially if your only running one amp, so you can fuse it close to the 40 amp fuse rating on the amp.   I would go for about a 60 amp fuse.

Iv never really liked circuit breakers.  If you open them up inside, ,there pretty flimsy, , kinda makes you wonder how power even passes through them.
