mad dilemma here. this saturday is state finals in MECA and id like to win this year as i did last year too..BUT my head unit decided to start skipping ridiculously these past few weeks. anytiem i have my system way up it skips and as i was burping it yesterday i realized that anything over 57hz can not be played loud or it will skip, low freq are fine. but i peak at 62hz so i gotta fix this. any suggestions to make it quit skipping???

No doubt, get that baby out of there ASAP. There is not enough time for you to send it for service, have it repaired and returned in order for you to triumph again. This totally sounds like a resonant frequency issue, not a voltage related issue. It might just be that the silicone rubber insulators and springs that hold that transport steady have just had their day, or the laser itself is out of alignment. Bout time it ought'ta retire. Try a couple of different players in the next couple of days to see which one will take the abuse that the system is going to dish out. Get it done ASAP so that when the day hits, it is not a worry any more.

yea its an excelon, i think the warranty is 2 years and ive had it for just over a year. this pisses me off cause i paid 350 for it and its already been replaced once cause the cd player stopped working, wouldnt spit my cd back out and wouldnt switch to cd source either!! hmmm ive had 3 pioneers prior to this kenwood HU, and none of them crapped out..maybe i should stick with pioneer from now on!! well i dont know off the top any friends who have a good head unit i can borrow for the competition, and yea i know i dont have time to get it repaired for this weekend. so does anyone know any kinda ways to rig it to make the HU more stable? this will be temporary till i can send it off to get repaired

extend the wires so you can hold your HU outside your vehicle. Or upgrade to an Eclipse cd player. Orrrrrrrrrrr Get the kenwood music keg and play bass songs through the harddrive.
