I need to know if I am going to be having to worry about cd skipping in a comp. I'm trying to get opinions on a deck that'll take like 160 dB (not that I expect to hit it). Just to be sure, you know. If the cd skips then I'm out of luck right? So I wanted opinions on if it'll be a problem or not, and if so what to go with. I am on a budget, but I can get stuff at cost at Best Buy and pick up crap off ebay cheap, so any opinion will work I guess. But does the 24 bit d/a conversion kind of stuff matter or not? What about a kenwood keg? What about just a good deck... that's ideal. Let me know what you think. My deck died, I need a new one anyhow!

well the kenwood keg wouldnt work for comps as it is a MP3 unit, You have to use the offical usaci cd when in a comp.    All three of the vehicles we are running right now are using panisonic dfx983u units.   fairly inexpensive decks but lots of good features and havnt had a prob yet..another thing is that it isnt always the deck's fault that skipping occurs, if the mounting cage isnt secure or it is loose in the dash at all this will cause skipping for sure.   I have seen guys try to have a deck sitting in the middle consoule bescause they hurried thier day before install and then the deck skips and it like hmmm why did that happen
