I'm getting ready to install a system in my durango.  My wife does not want me to install two 10" subs. My ? is can I use only one 10 at this time and maybe add the other 10 later?  While this give me enough bass?  I'm not really interested in a heavy bass system.  I just want to have good quality sound.  Should I try to convince her to let me put two 10s in and lower the gain??  Here is a list of items I have at this time.

1-Pioneer DEH-P740MP
1-Power Acoustik OV4-800 4 channel amp
1-Power Acoustik OV2-520 2 channel amp
1-Power Acoustik 1.2 farad capacitor
4-Power Acoustik SPX-653 - 6.5" 3 way speaker
1-Power Acoustik FUBR-10 10" subwoofer

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I want my system, but I want to keep my family also.

PS - I'm looking at getting the Prestige APS-996 or 996A alarm.

If your not interested in a bass heavy system, keep it to one sub. The output will be more determined by the box rather than the number of subs. Consider a ported enclosure if more output is what you are after vs. the tradeoff of the output of two subs. Consider the new Compustar alarms as well. I don't think they are up on the website yet but they have been a awesome alarm system for years. The 2wama has proven to be a great alarm / pager combination and the 2wfm series a similar unit with remote start.

one fubr sub is more then enough boom for most people.   If you are looking for boom when you want it and a little less when you dont go with a slot port enclosure tuned failry low,    I have found that slots dont give as drastic of a peak as round ports and also seam to remain cleaner....I think if you are not happy with the output of your 1 10 you could up your power and really do some damage... here is your example.....but 2 subs, 1998 honda civic ex, 2 10 inch eclipse 7100's 400rms per sub...144.7db on the term lab      hows that?
