i want to put another battery under my hood to power my highs,mids and other things in the cab and i'm probably gonna go with 4 batteries in the bed to power my subs. i know how to run the wires from battery to the amps and etc... but how would i run them to the alternator or how would i have to setup another alternator to keep the other 5 batteries charged? or is this even possible?
also, i'm going to cut holes in the back of my cab for the bass to come through, should i cut 1 big hole from one side to the other, one square in the middle or 2 squares (1 behind each seat)? basically which cuts, which will give me a better sound from the bed?
i drive a 92 single cab chevy... incase you need to know

How many amps are you going to be running? What will your system consist of (amps, subs, radio, speakers)?

You are creating a monster, stop right now and fill us in on what you are tring to do. All those batteries are no good unless you can keep them charged.

my plan, at least right now, is to put 8 orion h2 12s in the bed of my truck and run 4 orion 2500d amps (2 subs per amp) i was going to use the 4 batteries for this part setup.
up front i'm going to have 4x6's in the dash, 6 1/2 in kick panels, 1" tweeters in the kick panels and 2 more on each door, and maybe 8" in the front lower part of the doors. not sure what amp i will be using, but for right now probably the 2 600 watt kenwoods i have (600 on the front, 600 on the rear)
also in the cab i'm building a desktop computer in the center console (i get more power than a laptop for much cheaper this way) with a 17" lcd that will be molded into the console and dash. a 600 watt inverter will power the main part of the computer and a 300 watt inverter will power the monitor. the main reason for the computer is to lose the millions of cds and have everything on the computer. i'm a computer nerd so that partly explains it too... lol
the extra battery under the hood was going to power the computer, highs, and mids.
these ideas may be altered, but if anybody has any suggestions for the highs and mids then let me know, the bass i think i'm pretty much set on(of course it will break me when i do that part) oh yeah, i plan to use 0 and 2 gauge wire, maybe 4 gauge for the amps on the non bass and 4 gauge on the inverters(recommended on their site) i know this is a lot but i live for this type of stuff...

You sould like you know what you're doing, so you shuld realize you are describing a 1000 amp (current, not watts) system. I recomend you contact a company like Zena and discuss their miltiple alternator setups. And with that kind of power requirements, your sub amp rack will require more like multiple 0000 cables. ------------- Support the12volt.com

well you are alreayd running so much orion equipment i would just stick with it....realistically with that much bass its gonna be hard to geat mids and highs to keep up! the current draw will be huge! my suggestins besides zena would be to contact ohio generators. they have helped supply me with alt's for cars drawing up to 400amps so im sure they can help you as well

Before you spend money on extra batteries,get yourself a high output alternator.Yeah it may cost a few bucks but it is the only way to go.

 I may be the only one, , but i think thats one of the dumbest ideas ever. Its going to take 8 subs to go as loud as 3 or 4 would get to in a SUV with 1/4 of the power requirements.
