Does anyone know about the interference capacitor on a windstar? I can not listen to AM radio talk without static interference. Have a new alternator and cleaned capacitor and the radio still impossible to hear. I understand from another forum this is a common problem but there has to be a solution. You all seem very technical and I need concrete answers. will changing the radio be a help or will I have a new radio same old problem. I get the feeling the problem is electrical within the car. Thanks for any help. I do not want to go back to the dealer.

I would check with FORD (probably be fun) to see if there is any campaign (repair) notices on it 1st.
You may want to re-route antenna wire under dash (that to will be fun)
Also, U could try a Ground Loop Isolator on the Antenna.
Make sure of all Grounds on vehicle, Battery, Engine, radio, antenna, etc.
On Some vehicles U will never get all the noise out of AM because of RF in vehicle
