what kind of budget and sound goals ? Had a buddy with an 87 Convertable pony. Kenwood Excelon H/U , Kenwood 4 channel amp , all Kenwood front rear and dash speakers. Didnt have much bass at all but the rest sounded very sweet. Think he paid about $1,200 for the whole set up.

well then sounds like the sky's the limit. were you planning on alot of bass? those trunks are soo small and have the roof compartment between the trunk and the back seat. You might get a decent pair of 10s in there at best. If your just concerned about looks , just pick out the most bling bling and go for it!

im not familiar with the newest eclipse subs but Ive heard thier pretty decent. I know last years models were pretty good SQ subs , at least in my opinion. As far as the MTX amps Ive only installed a couple of those this year and wasnt too impressed. Over rated on wattage and not too clean but again , thats only my opinion. Its hard to recomend any brands because there so many names in different price ranges with different purposes.

Eclipse = damn fine gear. I have been a dealer and user of thier products for 9 years. Want good output from the subs and superior sq, have a look at the aluminum cone and titanium cone series. It's really impossible to listen to something in a store and expect it to perform the same in the car.

haha the eclipse products come up....I am running 2 new 7100 series aluminum 10's right now powering each sub with the 400rms via a memphis hc-50 per sub. we recently hit a 144.7 in a honda civic coupe, the sq and low bass are incredible. Another member of the shop has 2 audiobahn 1206t's and I can hit as hard as him in SPL, smoke him in SQ, and hit just as low with 10 as his 12. that as good enough push for eclipse for ya?

I had an 88 GT convertible and I installed 3.5" pioneers in the dash, 5.25" pioneers in the doors, and I forget the size of the pioneers in the rear quater panels. I placed two 8" MTX Thunder Comps in the trunk under the top storage bin with a 500 watt amp to power the subs. I also installed a 100 watt amp to power the door speakers. I had a Sherwood EQ and a Pioneer head unit in the dash. All that stuff was given to me for a graduation present. That was also back in 95. I remeber thinking that it was a great sounding system and having people tell me that they did not think you could get the pound that I did from the small subs in a convertible. Having a Convertible makes things more difficult. Some advise though, place what you can behind the rear seat with the top motor. That is a great hiding place!
