i am using a kenwood amp kac-7251 which is 150watts x2. got it for almost nothing but am regretting it pretty badly. have a pair of mbquart 6.5RCEs and the amp is clipping. could my grounding be causing this in any way or power? i have a good 14 volts going to the going to the sytem at all times. if none of these are the case, which i doubt they are, kenwood makes crap. what amps should i look into. i am on a bit of a budget. also, how are the pce's compared to the rce's, quality and sound level? i heard the rce's hooked up to a diamond amp and i still wasnt too impressed.

Clipping typically caused by improper gain setting. How did you set it?

very low, i have 6.5 volt preouts on my deck so i can crank the deck without any distortion so i have no need to turn up the gain.

Just wondering if you get the clipping when the HU volume is not any higher than the 3/4 point. Even with a high pre-out voltage, a head unit can and most likely will send distortion to the amp, if cranked to the max. I would just check output voltage to the speakers with a DMM first before trashing the amp. And keep the deck at no higher than 3/4 volume.
