A friend wants to install 2 amps and a subwoofer enclosure to a factory head unit in his Expedition. One amp for the subs and one for factory speakers. I need to know what he needs to get to make this happen. I think we will need two low level converters and all the power cables of course but is there an easy way to do this? Need a little help here, if he was using an aftermarket deck I would have no problems but this factory deck thing is killing me. Thanks

Well you basically have everything you need considering your amp has a built in crossover and has a RCA output so you can split the back channel for rears and subs. If not you might want a line driver to keep your signal strong when you split it with a Y adapter.  But it still remains it will sound better than it does now but he is going to want an aftermart deck factory sucks..

But that is just my opinion!!!

I should not need the crossover in the amp since one amp is dedicated to the subs and the other is for all the factory speakers, correct?

If the back of the OEM deck has one plug, use a 4 channel LOC for the speaker's and most amplifier's have a pass through RCA for a sub amp. If the OEM deck has 2 or more plugs, then you have a OEM amplifier and you need to grab the output wires for the LOC at the output of the OEM amplifier.

Yeah since Expo's have 2 sets of 5x7 they will be ok on full range but what size amp (RMS) are you using on the factory speakers a real inexspensive upgrade would be some aftermarket 5x7's you don't have to break the bank but  aftermarkets always handle power better than OEM speakers.  If you put to much power on them you will be forced to replace them.

The factory speakers are going to be run from a 500 watt Kenwood. i told him they will end up getting blown but he will burn that bridge when he gets to it I guess. I will try and talk him into some aftermarket speakers.

If the factory HU is amplified, there will be no need for LOCs for the output is low level to the factory amp!!!!!!

That is 125x4 peak. If the factory HU is amplified that would make life alot easier. Anywhere I can find out about where to tie in to all this crap? Thanks for all the help you all have been great.
