I've got one 2100hcca that's about 5 years old w/ less than 4 hours on it.  I just did an install and used it along with 2 other sx series amps.  I'm pushing two volfenhag DVC 12's wired to give the amp a 1 ohm load, wich the amp should handle with no problem.  After 1 day i popped in a bass cd and anyone who knows this amp knows it has a fuses between the amp and subs, so after just a few sec. of the cd it blew 1 fuse I replaced it w/ a larger one the next day tried the cd again and blew the other sides fuse & replaced w/ a larger one.  The next day tried the cd again and the amp stopped working it's not a fuse or wiring the power light doesn't come on.

any suggestions as to what might of happened and where i can get it fixed.

keep in mind the amp is old but has been stored in my closet in a box and only has 4 hours on it.  I installed it and after 3days it's broke and I was not pushing it hard at all (I was breaking in my subs) when it went out it had been on for maybe 30seconds so it didn't overheat.

also, I might mention it was very underpowered i had planned on adding my cap. and extra battery the following weekend if that might help in making a prognosis.

First off when a fuse blows something caused it to blow. By putting a bigger fuse all you did was cause the amp to fry. Get the amp fixed ,but before you try connecting it up again go trough your wiring. Make sure you don't have your subs wired wrong or that one of the coils is not blown.

well i've took the plug off the hcca amp and hooked it to one of my sx amps and the subs sound good (thats how I know its not the wiring), the reason I enlarged the fuse is because it came with very small fuses in the factory harness and figured I was pushing to much for them ?  the sys. sounded great until the bass cd with the really low bass?

Well if thats the case then it sounds like the amp had some kind of defect. Were are you located? Maybe someone can help with an authorized orion dealer.

orion fixes there own,   I wouldnt send an orion product anywhere but directly to them, yes they will charge you $150 to repair it but they will warantee their repairs as well, I always send off repairs to thier manufature, a corner store normally wont warrant thier repairs

That's a +...........jeffchilcott is right, it's worth the money in the long run, but is the AMP worth the fix (may be to old & U might find 1 on E-Bay)
No matter what U put back in, I would want to check those speakers & wiring too

Orion will fix it and warrantee it better than any shop, including mine, and I have been repairing Mobile Electronics for 25 years.  Have always had good luck with Orion.

I would spens the $150 to get this repaired, even in broken condition these amps can still almost sell for $100

well just to update everyone I took the amp apart just for the heck of it and i guess no one knew or thought to mention that the amp has 2 fuses inside of it and one of them was blown so no need to send the amp off for a $150 repair i can do for about $0.50 myself

These amps were notorious for blowing the internal fuses. Even Orion (back when it was Orion) would tell you the fuses were undersized for the output ability of the amps. I believe they were 30A from the factory. Most people replaced them with 40A. Do yourself a favor and make sure you have all the power the amp needs available before you pound it too hard, if you don't, you run the risk of damaging the power supply. Many of the components Orion used in building this amp are hard to find at best. Sending it to DEI is useless as they will tell you they cannot repair it. Take care of it, it's an awesome amp.

No but is it so imparative that you have that amp? We can help you if you give us the following: (1) What kind of subs you are running (2) How many voice coils and the impedences on each of them (3) a common goal (SQ OR SPL). Get back to us and we'll help you out.
