Here ya go. Or, to sum it up, it's someone (like me) who can hear and identify the sonic superiority of analog over digital. :) ------------- Support the12volt.com

I just want to take a minute and give a "Shout Out" to Dyohn for the appriciation of analog recordings. I took some Audio Engineering classes at a local college couple of years ago. In no way does this make me an expert but it definately opened my eyes and ears to the differences of the two. Made me appriciate and respect analog recordings over digital. Sad thing is back when digital got real big years ago , many artist and engineers respected digital technology and mastered many Excellent recordings but that was short lived when they found out how to abuse it and its never recovered. Anyway , thats my two cents. I'll shut up now........

Audiophile: one who is never completely satisfied with the sound of his music system...and so is always trying to make it perfect. ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Francious70....I might argue with your definition, but your rip on on Monster has brought a smile to my face! The bottom line...people who like sound, usually have kick ass systems....even if they fall for some hype here and there. If you bought a Bose wave radio...you got ripped off! A real audiophile owns a turntable and some vinyl.

flyntech,
Thanks for noticing my sig!
I will agree with you that audiophiles do/will fall for some hype now and again, heck, even I have. But I won't agree with the turntables/vinyl statement. Saying vinyl is hi-fi is like saying that cassets are hi-fi. An audiophile is defined as a person who likes hi-fidelity by dictionary.com.
Now and LP and turntable is going to have an EXTREMELY high noise floor. Don't believe me? Go pull out a your favorite record and listen to it. As soon as you put the needle to the record what do you hear?? *Scratch* *hissssssss* You may have to call an exterminator to kill some snakes.
Fidelity is defined by dictionary.com as the degree to which an electronic system accurately reproduces the sound or image of its input signal. now tell me how a scratcy record is going to faithfully reproduce the recording?? When recorded I don't think there was hissing in the microphones used to record the instruments.
I know most of this delas with home audio, but home audio and car audio arn't that far removed from one another. Audioholics.com is a website much like this on, but for home audio. I highly suggest checking it out.
An audiophle is a person who will be more likly to listen to a SACD than a regular CD.
