How do I remove the rear speakers in my 1998 Honda Civic Coupe? There dont seem to be andy bolts underneath and the mesh that covers each speaker doesnt seem to have any catches.
Thanks in advance
well I feel for you in your efforts...This is one of the fun cars to remove the rear speakers, The only way to get to them it to remove the whole rear window deck..You will have to peel the lip where the seats atach at pop the clips inside, There is a piece that will have to be removed it is around the key slot to unlock the seats..I know this seams like a long process and it is, but its not hard..You might have to remove the side panels in the rear of the car i dont remember because mine have been fabricated very extensivly..If you ever need any other help with this car more then likely I know the answer as I have had this car stripped bare and rebuilt many times

the best thing to do here is to remove the rear seats, then the side panels and then the rear deck. it sound simple and really is if you take your time. remove the 8mm nuts on the 3rd brake light before pulling on any clips,or else you will leave crease marks in your plastic. be carfull not to break the factory clips on the side panles and look for the hidden phillips screws under the molded handle of the side plastic.all you need time.....and an angle driver, when you get the rear all apart the 8mm bolts that hold the speaker in place are easy to remove exept for the one's closest to the rear window.
when you install the aftermarket speakers install the from the inside of the trunk, that way if you have a problem with one of them all you need to do is drop 4 screws instead of ripping your car apart again.
Its done.
Thanks for your advice guys - I wouldnt have thought to rip the whole interior out just to swap the speakers. My respect for Honda engineering just took a hit. The angle driver tip was on point.
Anyone want some stock Honda speakers?
Thanks again.
