I have just had a Memphis 1000d installed in my car runnin 2 Kicker Solo 12s...

They wired it down to 1 Ohm...and it sounds great but the problem is heat....I have it hid in a small compartment in my car and I need to cool it off...

A friend sugested using 80mm Computer fans and I was wondering if this is the most logical Idea....

And if it is a good idea do I need to do anything special to hook them up and how would you sugest doing so...

if you are not experienced with this type of thing have it hooked to the board my a tech.   you can use your remote power source to kick this fan on but not always the best route.

I have plenty of experiance...I work with cars so I know how a 12Volt sys works...

its a 1999 isuzu rodeo and the amp is behind the rear plastic panel on the drivers side...You can see it through the opening where the Jack used to be...I want to use some of the illuminated fans but I was worried If I pulled power off the remote that it would drop too low to turn the amp on...So do I need to run a new wire back to the amp for the fans

and will the regular Computer fans work as is..or do I need to put a resistor on them or something....

u should be able to because i have three computer cooling fans cooling the brain on my video system, and my two amps....just remember, you might need a ground loop isolator if you do that...you might get a "whining" sound if you do that. i use those  same fans...infact i have the ones that light up, its pretty cool

If I was you I would by a larger turbine fan like what stinger makes. They sell for about 30 bucks. They look kinda like a paper towel tube but move alot more air. They draw very little power so you could just use a relay and tap into the main power wire used for the amp to power the relay and then just use the remote to switch the relay on. Also if you use a relay you should not experience any type of feedback like what saranykm described because the relay will isolate the fan.
