Again 04 Silverado Extra Cab 2 10" jl w3v2's 1 jl 500/1 amp 1 jl 4/300 amp 1set mb quarts 6.5 pce216 1 pair Eclipse 4x6 1 Pioneer Permeir Deh-p560mp. How do you think system will sound? Any recommendations, all comments welcome. I have about 2k-2,200 to spend total. Thanks!

You have a pretty good set up of equipment there but it also depends alot on the intaller and who ever tunes it in for ya. If its installed properly , I think it should sound pretty clean and tight. Sometimes less is more.

They are telling me $2800 installed with a up firing box that goes under the seat. They also said 200 or 300 more to dynamat the doors. I should be able to find it for cheaper than this right? I'am trying to get away with 2k to 2,200. Any comments are appreciated!

well if your handy enough to remove the door panels your self and can use a heat gun , You could save about $100 and dynomat the doors yourself. Other than that , $2,800 for the whole thing installed isnt too bad.

Don't go dynamat. That stuff is a monopoly. Go w/ brown bread (here's a link to a place that sells it https://www.b-quiet.com/brownbread.html ). The dynamat stuff is overpriced. But other then that yeah sounds like a really nice system. Have you concidered installing it yourself? Not to hard if you have some time and a few tools.

Brown bread is great stuff. As far as the system goes, I would probably change the rear speakers (as good as they are) to the MB Quart DKE110 (they come with a 4x6" mounting adaptor). And not that I forgot the obligatory why no Eclipse cd player?

https://www.raamaudio.com/ is the best value in sound dampening material I've found. I probably wouldn't go with more than one subwoofer, you probably don't need it unless you're looking to compete. Otherwise it looks like a great list of components. Comment on the quart drivers: as long as you're spending that kind of money I'd put a 3-way system up front with the midrange and tweeter in the kick panel location. I have the 216's up front in my car and the biggest upgrade I think I could possibly make to move would be to move the midrange drivers to the kick and buy a dedicated midbass driver set for the door. - I've been doing some measurements of the 216's because I'm a little annoyed with some peaks in the frequency response I hear when listening to some female jazz vocalists. After playing with TrueRTA and evaluating each speaker one by one w/ the mic in different locations I've determined that the off-axis response of the quart 216 6.5" driver is causing the problem. It sounds beautiful when reasonably on axis, but since my drivers are in the door locations I'm listening to some pretty great off-axis angles. The only way I can fix this is either to 1) buy more sophisiticated eq equiptment (not ideal) or 2) put midrange drivers in this kicks. Anyway, to sum that up I'd say if I were starting off with a decent budget I would be sure to build some midrange drivers into the kick panels. - or find midrange drivers with better off-axis response. The Koda 6 set from https://www.adireaudio.com/ is one set I'd consider. Also, you won't want to run the 4x6" drivers very loudly and detract from the quality sound of your front stage. If I were you, I'd probably get the same amp, pick some dedicated 6.5" midbass drivers, run 75w to the midbass drivers, 75w to the 216 components, and run the 4x6" (rear fill) drivers off the head unit power. Also, I'd attenuate the 4x6" drivers so they are 6-10 db quieter than the fronts (or forget the rear speakers altogether). Hope my ideas are helpful. ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

If you want to save money do the sound dead'n on the doors yourself. Drop the 4x6's. Switch to a 2 channel amp instead of the jl 4/300. How much are you paying for the deck? Consider one with only two sets of pre-amps, if your not going with rear full-range speakers. Other then that? Install if yourself.

Other have suggested getting 12's instead of the 10's. My questions is would the 12's sound as tight and clean as the 10's? Also Do you know where there is a box that will work for 2 12's? The Sealed Enclosure Range is: 1.00-1.50 cu.ft. (28.3-42.0 liters) and the mounting depth is 6.9". This is the only box that I have found, I dont know if it will work , I havent seen anything bigger. https://www.subthump.com/ctbultra.htm

Your probly not going to find a prefab box for 2 - 12s that fit underneath the rear seat. You will have to custome build somthing like that in addition to raising the seat a few inches. Like the others said earlier , it would probly be best just to stay with the 2 - 10s or even drop one of them and just go with 1 - 10. You would be suprised how much bass you can get from just one , good , clean subwoofer. Your ears dont know the number of subs you have and cant tell the difference. All they hear is a mono tone of low sub frequencies.
