Hey i'm out here looking for any Nakamichi dealers. U know any? The ones on their site never answer the phone, so if u know any personal ones shout at me. BTW, anyone had any experience with Nakamichi stuff before? Let me know how it was with what units.

Specifically the CD-45z and the SP-S6500 if possible, but speak of other units like amplifiers as well.

When I got my car it had a Nak. head unit and it wasn't the greatest. It had good sound quality but it had a tendency to skip alot.

hope that helped.

CD-45z was my head unit for five years.  No problems and superb SQ.  I recently upgraded to the MB-100 because I wanted a changer and the better D/A converter.  I love Nakamichi electronics and use their heads exclusively in my personal cars.  I also run their 4-channel mains amps.  Their speakers are good quality but I personally am not fond of their sound (too thin in the lower mids, high end sounds brittle, and their subs are overpriced.)

i used Nak years ago when i was a dealer... ( anyone who remembers the TD-1200 raise your hands )  and i really liked it.... good SQ and functionality.... power amps were a tad underpowered, but you could run them wide open without any noticeable distortion.... definately not for the R&R crowd, but my jazz and classical customers loved them.....

CD-400 guy, what music do you listen to? I am very interested in everything u can bring to the table about the CD-400. So anyone here recommend me a good component for under $210 ??? I'm looking for some thing 40-70 RMS and 100-140 W peak. 91+db at 1w/m and good range of frequency. SILK TWEETERS ONLY.

I have a cd45z and think it is much better than most Alpines and Kenwoods out there.  I think it is more skip- resistant than most, though it finally skipped for the first time in 3 years when I drove off a really deep pothole.  In terms of music reproduction, it sounds like a fine home unit in that it recreates a surround-sound ambience, if that's your thing.  Weak points are its tuner section.  I think most radios made today easily outperform the Nak in that department.  But for SQ it's hard to beat.
