What is better sub for the rockford fosgate amplifier P4004.  The amplifier is 200 rms bridged (but people say is almost 270 rms)

sub1: Jl 12w0 https://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/12w0.html  or

sub2: rockford fosgate P112s4 https://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/ez2rockford/ModelInfo/ModelInfo.asp?ItemKey=10063597&CategoryDesc=Punch%20Subwoofers

I am not a fan of either but I cannot recomend the new Rockford subs to anyone because of reliablity reasons. If those are your two choices go with JL

Rockford amps are rated at 14.5 volts on the birth sheet.  You'll be lucky to get more then 13.5-13.8v at your amp, so the birth sheet is overrated.  Are you talking about a pair of subs or a single and using two channels to drive your fullrange speakers?  With the kind of power you have i would consider a 12w3v2, and not a w0.  Same thing with the Rockfords, consider a P2?  I would buy the JL though.

I wouldnt' go with with the 12w0, Just cuz there JL's LOL
There good but i rather go with the P2 - P3 sub. Either running one or two. No matter how many driviing. I would stick with its "brothers and sisters"  If you do get a crack on the cone, i woudln't be surprised. But stick with the fosgate. ^_^

I just want one sub using two channels bridged of my amplifier.  The other two channels are driving a component set of speakers (P162S).

I've heard a couple things about the new Rocckfords but it's only been about the power 3 12" i believe.  I'm with heavilymedicate on this.  The w3v2 is a good choice.  The w0 are good if you just want a small increase in the low end of a factory/slight modified system.  If you want somthing you and a few others can notice then a w3v2 is a better choice.  Buth the p2 might be good, just can't say b/c I've never heard them.

In your case a JL 12w3v2 D2 (D2: dual 2 ohm voice coils, wire them in series to achieve 4ohm load)  in a ported box.  The ported enclosure in the instruction manual is a solid design and will milk the spl out of the 200w you have.  Don’t worry about under powering the w3 in that setup, if you look at the JL power chart 200w rms is right where the place the "optimal" performance of the sub.

Every P2 I have heard has been in a prefab box, and I cannot account for correct tuning on the enclosure.  So, its not a fair comparison for me to compare the 12w3's I have heard (many times under optimal conditions) to the P2's that I have heard in questionable ones, dig?  But from what I have heard, gimme the W3.

With what you have it sounds like you are starting a solid little system.  Nice that your balancing it, instead of dumping all your money into subs for SPL. BTW whats the ride?
