Hey guys, I am building a new car for next year and looking for suggestions.   Now as the topic says I will be drawing roughly 600 amps or more! Need to decide how to provide this massive current

1) Alternator upgrade and batcaps?
2) Alternator upgrand and lots of 16 volt batteries like a dozen batt's
3) 2 Alternator piggybacked to produce close to 600 amps and a few battery's

or any other suggestions,    No I wont tell what im running quite yet, I can say this

Ford Festiva (2) 15's 2 amps daisy chained per sub. approx 5500watts per sub

600 amps may require a multiple alternator setup.  I don't know of a single one that large.

Yea I know that,   I wasx considering running a 300amp alternator and just trying to charge enough batterys to supply a charge for a burp,    This is not going to be a daily driver of course.    again any suggestions can help.    And no its not the new PG amps

My vote is for the multiple alternators and a sled full of batteries.

Sounds like your building a beast. Your project is quite a bit off the charts for me but Im always eager to learn these things. It would be realy cool if you could post us as you go. Just admiring the Pro's.........Good Luck.

well I am thinking about letting the cat out of the bag...here we go...

(4) SPL z1x3000d amps...dont knock them they are sick!!!!    and to start (1)   hehe 15 inch quad coil memphis mojo sub..hmmmm 10000rms either it will light up like a sparkler, or make some sick #'s

I have 2 more subs as back up, if I cant harness all the power to 1 sub I will change to 2 subs. You can daisy chain these amps but havent decided if I am going to do it yet.   I will probably do it and try to burp them at 1/2 ohm even though they are rated at 1 ohm.

This is all going into the festiva, replacing the 8 12 inchers in there now.    I am trying to get to the mid 160's on the term lab..im on a quest And I do have a name for the project now

Project:   HEART STOPPER!

I noticed stinger is back in the alternator business... never know what they might be able to wind up.

I don't think 600A in one case is that easily done.... that is a lot of heat to be dissapated vs. actual case volume. A dual alternator setup would be more doable, and gives some form of redundancy.... you let the smoke genie out of one, you still have 300A to play with.

Just my thoughts....

Gus

Well I'd think the multiple batts at 16 volts would be good for your 30 sec burp.Mutiple batts are not the answer for long tem listening(alternator load and misc).Put the largest alternator or 2  and charge the piss out of the batteries and only turn it on when needed.Good luck and keep us posted.

I like your plan Jeff. Who would suspect the old Festiva to have a monster SPL system when it looks like somthing that would be sold at auction South of the Border. You go Dude !

Say  Jeff, you'll probably need Nitrous Oxide to help that Festiva engine turn your alternators,Ha Ha.
