I was wondering if someone could help me. I recently purchased a 2002 Cavalier and the stereo will not work. The head unit has power, but now sound at all. The previous owner had a stereo system installed in the car and they may have neglected to reconnect something when they reinstalled the factory unit. I have heard that if they didn't reconnect the factory amp, then the stereo would not work. I can't even find the factory amp, so I can't check it out. If anyone could tell me where the amp is located, I would greatly appreciate it. Any advice you could give, I could use!

There is no factory amp on this car. Only class 2 system.
I am thinking the factory head unit may or maynot be working so I would start there. But the easier way is the speaker connection. As forbidden said, check your speakers and speaker connections, then proceed go to the factory head unit and check there.

Thanks. The speakers are all still in the car and the connections are good to the speakers. I guess that I will have to take it to the sound shop to get it seen about. Thanks for your help.

There's either no output from your HU or your speakers are blown.

check out your speakers by popping them with a 9 volt battery.If they move fine in reverse and normal polarity then your problem lies elsewhere
