I recently installed a CD/Radio in my 96 Dodge Dakota P/U and it worked fine till about a week ago now when i listen to the radio i get so much static that i can barely hear the music, Where can i start trying to fix this from?
Sounds like an antenna issue. If it was fine and then suddenly got worse, pull the head unit and check if the antenna simply came unplugged...

i doubt if it managed to come unplugged by itself ( it could happen i guess ) but i would suspect water intrusion or something similar that will give you this problem...how is reception? usually if an antenna cable becomes unplugged you get zero AM reception and poor FM reception ( although FM may seem fine in town )
when you hit seek does it pick up the local stations you would normally expect it to?

I have had a few vehicles =with mystery antenna probs where it just goes out but still plugged in. Normally instead of tracing the wire to see if it is touching or broken anywhere, I will replace with a aftermarket power antenna, you can normally get them for under $30

or you could grab a meter and meter the antenna and cable for continuity and be sure where the problem lies in about 10 minutes...
you'll also want to meter for a short which will tell you if you have a corrosion/water intrusion issue......
