I just ran tsunami 1/0 gauge power wire in my car. I have it tun from my battery to my capacitor, then from cap to distribution block ect. I bought 2 100 amp ANL fuses because the total amperage drawn from my two amplifiers will be 105 amps. I only had one of my amps hooked up, and it has only one 30 amp fuse. When I put the fuses in the power wire after I was done installing everything, It sparked, (like normal) but blew, both fuses. Should I have a higher amperage fuse with 1/0 gauge power wire? I read in The Car Stereo Cookbook that the size of the fuse should be derived from the sum of the number of amps of power drawn from all amplifiers in the system. Is this true? Any help would be much appreciated.

It shouldn't have blown just hooking it up. That means your positive between the battery and the amp is touching ground somewhere. Disconnect your amps and cap, , put a fuse back in the main line, if it dosn't pop then its between your cap and amp. If it does pop, , then your power wire is probably cut and touching.

I know it is not touching the ground anywhere. Cause my brother was messing around befor i put the first fuse in. He set it on the terminals of the fuse block and it sparked like a mo fo. But the fuse was not broken, just brown in color. So I unhooked the battery and put the fuse in and then hooked up the battery again. I wa able to listen to music a couple of time. But when I got in my car later today, it didnt work. When I checked the fuse, it had blown. I think maybe it had blown because it was weakened when my brother was messing around with it.

Start by charging the cap. The initial inrush current of charging a large cap will blow a fuse. Disconnect the battery end of the 1/0. Put in a new fuse. Now, using even an 1157 taillight bulb, put the bulb in series with your power connection. Meaning the current has to flow through the bulb to get to the 1/0. The bulb will light very brightly at first... don't worry, and after 30 sec. or so, will be getting dimmer and dimmer. Once the bulb is fully out (maybe a minute), the cap is charged.
