I have a 01 Silverado ext cab w/ stock HU (AM/FM CD player w/AUX button). My question is does this HU have the wiring to turn an amp on, and if so, is there a wiring diagram availible somewhere for it. If it doesnt, how would you suggest to install the amp so that it comes on w/ the ignition. Thanks, Jim

You can either run a remote wire from your fuse box or you can catch the ignition or accy wire in the main harness or PAC makes a module that will give you Line out and remote turn on. If you go with the fuse box or the main accy wire, I would run an in-line fuse to protect the vehicle.

Thanks raydawg...if i run it thru the fuse box, will that permit enough voltage to get to the amp? Jim

If you go to the fuseblock and tap into a fuse for turn on make sure you use the cold side of the fuse you use ------------- John J. DiStefano Jr.

Yes it will, 12V is 12V and as Johnny said make sure you catch the cold side (when the fuse is removed, it's the side that doesn't have power) this way if the fuse blows for some reason, it will also kill power to the amp.

And not fry the wire from where it was connected in the fuse box to where the amp is and fry the balance of the factory circuit as well. Just saw this from a backyard installer the other day in a 02 Dodge pickup. Crispy, crispy, crispy, guy is so lucky that his inner dash was plastic and not metal, it actually burned right through the wire he ran.
