I was just wondering what would be the best way to go about beefing up my power for my stereo system to maximize the full potential of it. I have a 1993 Chevy 1500 & running 2 amps on 3 subs with the option to go bigger amps/subs. I've heard that you can take your factory alternator & get it beefed up & add another battery w/ isolator or would it be better to just buy a high output alternator & how much would i be looking at? Any suggestions or ideals would be greatly appreciated.

from what i hear getting you current alt. re-wound doesn't cost too much ... maybe less then buying a yellow top.

For the price of a HO alternator for my car, I could buy a really nice amp ($400 US). Try getting you stock alternator re-wound.

I got mine from www.4alterstart.com. It is a high output alternator and it didn't cost $400. I checked around and I couldn't get mine rewound enough to help, because the case is not large enough to put what I needed in it. Just an option you can look into. ------------- '85 Toy

A high output alternator is a good idea. ------But you gotta spend a bit. Gel cell battery (not an additional one) You might want to try a good size capacitor to stiffen what you already have. Larger power wire and ground would most likely give you better performance. A line driver if your head unit lacks decent V output. Also, definitly look into some type of sound deadening material. Properly placed, this stuff will usually improve what you already have, Making it sound literally twice as good by lowering resonant frequencies of panels in your vehicle. If you are the ambitious type, you can make fiber-glass panels in conjunction w/ sound deadening. This helps a GREAT deal
Most of these upgrades should leave you (and you wallet) happier after trying each one.
Good luck
