Hey wasup yall, I just purchased a pair of boston pro60's and installed them and they sound great. my ? is should i use the hp crossover on the amp and the crossovers that came with speakers or just the ones supplied with the speakers? also should i set the db to zero on the tweet crossover? they came with the lil connector on 2db. thanks

the jumper on 2db can be set higher to lower the volume of the tweeters, and set lower to raise the volume. i would assume you have a sub, so i would cross over the sub at 100hz and on the amp for the bostons cross them at 100hz. keep the crossover for the components as you still need the signal seperated from the woofer and tweeter. if you dont have a sub, set the high pass filter much lower. at like 50hz and watch your volume. you can give them the full range but you wont be able to turn them up nearly as loud as they can go

The crossoversthat comes with the speakers should be used (unless you are installing a bi-amped setup and using electronic crossovers) so that the speakers are protected, the correct frequencies are sent to the tweeter and the woofer and to ensure the loading on your amp is correct. The HPF on your amp can be used if the woofers in your set are bottoming out. Try setting it at about 80Hz. The attenuation control on the crossover is to dampen the tweeters if they are too bright (or not bright enough) in your setup. Try it at the factory default and if they are too much cut them to 0. ------------- Support the12volt.com

thanks for the reply. so let me get this straight. if i move the jumper to say 6db then the volume will be lower than it is a 2? i got 2 JL W0 12's, but the lp is set to 40 hz cuz ive heard from many people that real base is 40hz and under plus i think the subs sound sh!ty with the hz any higher. okay thanks

i agree, with subs being lower, but a 6" driver will not do very well at those lower frequencies. the best thing to do would to be to get 2 smaller subs to cover those frequencies. for example the 12's up to 50 or 60 hz, and 2 8's from 50 or 60 to say 120hz. the higher the number of db on the crosover you will set, the lower the tweeters will be. just out of curiosity, why do you have boston pros(the best) and jlw0 subs(not the worst, but nowhere near the best)? the bostons will overpower your subs easily. especially if you listen to rock
