i was readin a lil car audio book with random stuff in it, and it said that subs in a large box will hit lower but can't handle too much power. what exactly does that mean? that too much will blow the sub or what?

It's not that cut and dried, I think. Too large an enclosure for a sealed woofer would give a poor frequency response and sloppy sound, as the air volume inside the box will not work as it should to compress with the cone movement. But if the air volume is at the larger end of the recommended sizes allowed, the cone moves easier; that's why you hear that it would take less power to respond at the same level of volume. When it comes to any kind of vented enclosure, a poorly designed enclosure that is too large is just as bad as a poorly designed enclosure that is too small. Vented has to be dead-on correct any which way you look at it.
Usually, with the space confinements of car audio, too large an enclosure is rarely seen as a problem.

ok, i just wanted to make sure that i didnt have to run less power, becuz my box size is large. the size is of recomended volume but its almost over

You'll be fine, then. The recommended sizes always seem a bit on the small side anyway because there's so little room in an automobile.

Yeah the larger volume you go over on an enclosure the less power you need to run. Look at free air. The sub moves really easily and therefore if you run too much power the sub moves too much and it breaks. So a sealed has to push against that air cushion and you have to put the power to it beacuse that air contorols how much that sub moves. If you're a little off then you should be ok.
