You must be thinking of the type-r's, , cuz there is no type-x 15

Your going to have to look into a different amp set up with those subs.  The mrd-m1001 isn't capable of putting out the full 1000wrms because the 2 subs can only be wired to 1 ohm or 4 ohm.  The 1001 dosn't go down to 1 ohm, so you would be running the amp at 4 ohm resulting in 250wrms per sub.    You could look at 2 mrd-m501 's , or a JBL BPX1100.1 or the BPX2200.1 but its a very powerful amp.

Definately try to get 500-1000 rms to each  sub.  I would reccomend 750rms to be the best.

sweet, ,make shure he gets it all set up properly, he's playing wit alota power there,, a messed up gain setting will most likely end up in some smoked subs.

I know this one kid is ALWAYS In best buy telling me how hes been at frys pricing l7's or w7's and i remember i asked him what he was running in his car one time and he told me he was running 3 12s with a 1000w amp. Im like what brand are they. Hes like "Kinwood" there a rip off of kenwood and they sound so bad ass i almost peed in my pants from laughing so hard.

yea I install at best buy too, and all the little punk kids working there will surely drive u crazy. Like this one kid who truly believes he wants to run some 12's for mid's... They just get more rediculous every day.

it is gonna be awesome. has anyone worked with a streetwires cap, cause with that amount of power i know iam going to have to run a couple. If not streetwires its ok just anything reliable. I plan on running 1/0 gauge to a dis block and from there 4 gauge to the 2 amps.

Thanks, Jason

Everyone has their opinion, and here is mine. I guess i like the type x's, but i think they require too much power to sound good. When i put 750 W of Memphis power into one of them it sounded decent ( i am an SQ critic ) but when i put 1000 W of US amps power into it, it was music to my ears. Give the X's clean power and they will rock. That is the only beef i got with them ... other than that they are good.

boostedcivic,,i'm currently running no cap though I need one. I'm running 1/0 gauge from batt to rear mounted distro block and 4 gauge from the block to amps as well. That sub/amp combo will show you dash battery gauge how to bounce :) I'm going to upgrade my alternator and batt this week. I'm thinking of getting an optima yellow top.,

uthinkuknoaudio, agreed..they do NEED there power. I'm suprised they didn't hit with 750 however.

This may be a dumb question.. but keep in mind i'm not mr audio know it all.. How can I tell if my sub is pulling a 4 or 2 ohm load. My subs are dvc,, but I think the way I have the vc's wired they are running in 4ohm because it's like 2 subs wired in parellel. The terminals on my sub are like one terminal that powers both vcs.. know what i'm talking about?

It all depends on your wiring ... but definitely go with the optima yellow top. I have one and it is great.

yah..that's what i'm getting..so to wire my sub to run 2 ohm..do I need to wire my vc's in series?

ok..I just looked at my wiring and compared it with the "wiring a dvc sub for a 2ohm load" diagram on mtx's site..and it's currently wired like that..both + terminals to amp and both - terminals to amp
