I replaced what was supposed to be a defective stock unit from my 2000 Jeep Cherokee yesterday. Old unit reads the CD's but no sound through the speaker. After dealer said it was the unit, I decided it was best to replace with an after mkt deck for $200 as opposed to the $1000 the were asking me for a stock unit.
After replaced the head unit (all wires properly done) by a Pioneer head unit, I still get no sound through the speakers.
Now there it a black unit with an Infinity brand under my rear seat. Is that the stock amp. Could it have given up for my no sound problem. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I would say just rewire and bypass the amplifier. All the wires you need will be at the amplifier. As far as the radio installed properly, did you make sure to hook the remote turn on lead up?
